The new production plant of Loparex Group, subsidiary of UPM, has been inaugurated in Guangzhou, China on November 19, 2004. Ms Paula Lehtomäki, Minister of Foreign Trade of Finland, together with Mr. Matti Lindahl, President of UPM Converting Division, representatives from Administrative Committee of Guangzhou Economic & Technology District, representatives from European and International Cooperation Departments of Ministry of Commerce of China, Commerce Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Finland, attended the Opening Ceremony.
Loparex (Guangzhou) Paper Products Co., Ltd. is located in Guangzhou Economic & Technology District. The factory manufactures a wide range of siliconised release liners. The ground breaking of the mill took place on September 29, 2003 and the construction was completed in March 2004. The mill has been in trial operation since the summer of 2004.
