Safe for food packaging
It’s common for packaging materials and wrappers come into contact with food. This is why:
- Our specialty papers mills have implemented the ISO 22000 food management systems.
- We offer papers that are designed and produced to meet food packaging requirements.
Free of restricted chemical substances
We have recognised and listed 6,000 restricted harmful chemicals we avoid using in our production and papers.
We always use third-party verifications by sovereign institutions such as the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland to confirm that the safety of products intended to be used with food are safe.

Ecolabels and certifications
Environmental labels and certificates help you to identify products that meet certain standards. They are an effective way to prove and communicate the environmental quality of products and solutions. Currently nearly 85% of UPM Specialty Paper’s products are eligible for ecolabelling. Our goal is to reach 100% by 2030.
